meet Elmarie

Hello, I’m Elmarie Carter. A yoga teacher and just retired from being a childminder after 15 years. I love working with children and watching them grow, learn and develop, but it was time for me to move on and pursue my passion for yoga. I discovered yoga 8 years ago and never looked back. The practice changed me for the better physically and mentally.

After introducing this mindfulness practice in my life, I became more in control of my emotions and mental state on top of all the physical benefits of more strength, balance, coordination and flexibility. Yoga has changed how I view and interact with the outside world in a positive way. Along with giving me a more positive outlook in life regardless of what it throws at me.

Having worked with children closely I have noticed how overwhelmed modern life can be for little people as well. It just seemed fitting to bring the mindfulness that yoga can offer to them. Laying the foundations like it did when childminding, but this time in an environment that fosters physical and mental wellbeing more so than academic achievement.

When I’m not working, I (guess what?) practice yoga, go for walks and swim. I also really love cooking and reading and spending time with my family. I also have a gorgeous little granddaughter that I care for full time, so she keeps me on my toes. I’m excited and so pleased to have Joined the Happy Kids Yoga team and bring yoga and wellness to schools and Nurseries and the community.
